There can be nothing worse than a bad case of halitosis, otherwise known as bad breath. Some people have problems with it that has nothing to do with poor hygiene, unlike what many may think when they come across someone with bad breath.
Learning about what causes halitosis can be important for individuals suffering from it and for others that come across it.
Do you Suffer from Bad Breath? What are the Causes and Treatment? |
Individuals that suffer from halitosis have the main symptom of bad breath. This may not even be noticeable to the individual that is suffering from it at the time, but others may comment on it. The reasons for halitosis can go deeper than just the obvious ones of poor dental health, forgetting to brush, or having spicy food for lunch that day.
What many may not realize is that halitosis can be a warning sign that something else is wrong with them. Some of the things that bad breath can be a symptom of are tonsil stones, acid reflux, cancer, diabetes and other serious conditions.
Knowing the reason why a person has halitosis is important to determine how to prevent it or treat it. For the simple causes it is easy to remember to go to the dentist, brush your teeth often, and buy a pack of breath freshening gum or candy to use after the foods that give you bad breath to treat it.
If the halitosis is actually a symptom of something else that may be wrong with you, getting the right treatment from a doctor is essential for your health and well-being. When you visit your dentist, talking with them about the problem with your breath you have been having should prompt them to finding the cause or referring you to a doctor.
Finding out what causes halitosis is important because some may think that it is just a lack of keeping up with a person's mouth, but that is not the only cause. There are other very serious conditions that could be the root cause of your bad breath.
If using gums, mints, brushing your teeth as recommended, and seeing your dentist does not help your bad breath, scheduling a visit to your doctor can help get to the bottom of the reasons for your problem breath.
