Which Is The Best Gum For Bad Breath?

Almost everyone loves chewing gum. It has long been one of the more popular forms of candy and it has had quite a journey from its humble beginnings over 5,000 years ago. Today, gum can be used to help control appetite, supress nicotine cravings, relieve stress, or improve oral health. With such a large variety of applications, not to mention the array flavors and textures one has to choose from, almost everyone has an opinion about what their favorite brand of gum is. One topic that can be debated among gum-enthusiasts concerns which is the best gum for bad breath.

What are the key factors when it comes to this debate? Depending upon your own personal preferences, some of those concerns might be:

  • Which gum is healthiest overall?
  • Which gum has the longest lasting effects on your breath?
  • Which gum is most cost effective (a.k.a. "cheap") while still getting the job done?
  • Which gum is best at controlling halitosis, preventing tooth decay and improving your overall mouth and dental health?

Really, these are important questions that will take some consideration if you are serious about your oral health. Think of your children: What you allow them to chew now can impact their teeth for the rest of their lives! It's important to instill good habits now, while they are young, to ensure that they continue those habits in the future.

So, which is the best gum for bad breath? Again, it's a personal preference. Some people may tell you they like Stride, or 5, or Orbit. Another person may tell you that they think that Fruit Stripe is the best. Others base their opinions on flavor: cinnamon, spearmint and peppermint are among the favorites. It's really all about what works well with your body's chemistry.

If you prefer to have some professional input, you may want to consult with your dentist for his or her opinion. Many times, they have insight into products that may be sugar-free (which is better for your teeth) and what is best when it comes to overcoming your bad breath. Plus, they may have free samples of the gum so that you are able to try it before you buy it!

Garlic Breath

By R. Drysdale
Garlic is notorious for causing garlic breath. You don't even have to eat the stuff - just get it on your fingers and it will be absorbed through the skin and appear on your breath in moments. Though widely admired for flavor and healthful properties, garlic is no friend to take on a date. (If you do eat it, try to make sure your companions are eating it too. You will cancel each other out.)

Chronic Halitosis Treatment

By R. Drysdale
The fact that bad breath, or so-called halitosis, is often a persistent problem for those it afflicts, makes chronic halitosis treatment both a challenge and an opportunity for researchers and producers of bad breath remedies. In spite of the fact that we now know the immediate causes of most instances of bad breath, the underlying causes remain mysterious or are, themselves, difficult to resolve. For many people who suffer from bad breath, the only reasonable course is to incorporate a bad breath product into the daily personal hygiene routine and plan to continue it's use over the long term. A really good self-care product for halitosis is sorely needed.
